This is an easy one to spot. Most people with low motivation will show up late to work or will frequently not show up at all. Any reason to skip work will be leveraged; sometimes it's too much rain, another time it'll be some friends visiting, and many a times of not feeling well. The frequency of absenteeism is relatively high and understandably so since the person really has no desire to contribute.

Many organizations have flexible hours, which are turned into lower working hours when an employee is not motivated. Since it's legitimate to work from home, employees can exploit the freedom. So they stay at home, but neither work nor claim a day off.

Managers need to watch out for frequent absence or working from home. If you suspect that an employee is taking undue advantage of the flexibility to work from home, you can assign specific tasks for the day and ask for a detailed status for them.
