Everything takes some motivation

There is seldom a free lunch. Everything worthwhile takes effort, and every effort takes some motivation.

You may think that motivation is required for the harder tasks, but it impacts all tasks that a person has to achieve. Motivation or demotivation impacts a person on the job, and all activities related to that job may be impacted.

One can have lower motivation for one aspect of the job versus another, based on the factors that are driving the motivation. For example, a programmer who is not motivated to work on an outdated technology may find it hard to show good progress in his work around those outdated technologies, but he may be motivated on other aspects, like talking to customers and a requirement definition. In another case, when an employee is demotivated due to a lack of adequate compensation, he/she may not show enthusiasm in any activity.
