Desire is given but action is not

Desire is not motivation. Who wouldn't want to be awarded a big bonus for top performance? Who wouldn't want to be facilitated for hard work and solving a big problem?

Everyone desires to do well and create a name for himself or herself, and absolutely everyone desires to be paid higher. However, action is the hard part. Without action, desires have no real impact. In fact, there may be a negative impact when people want to achieve something for a long time and are unable to do so.

Positive and well-directed action is required in order to achieve those desires. Managers need to tap into this desire and create an action around it. Motivating people is all about energizing them to create an action, so people can realize their desires.
